JointGems� is a combination of Methyl-Sulfonyl-Methane (MSM) with Glucosamine. Glucosamine is required by the body for the synthesis of glycosaminoglycans

(GAGs).

GAGs are long chains of modified sugars that make up many body tissues, including tendons, ligaments, cartilage,

Suggested Usage:

Dosage is generally in the range of 1.5-8 grams per day in 2-3 divided doses. We suggest beginning with 2 capsules twice daily.

Precautions:

MSM has been used as a dietary supplement for almost 40 years with no reports of intolerance or allergic reactions. MSM has no known contraindications with pharmaceutical drugs or over-the-counter medications. MSM appears to be non-toxic, with a toxicity profile similar to that of water. Your body flushes excess MSM after about a 12-hour period. It uses what is needed and the rest is discarded. However, taking amounts of MSM greater than your body's ability to absorb it may result in loose stools.

MSM is not a drug or medicine, and is unrelated to sulfa

drugs, to which some people have an allergy

Sulfa-based drugs do not occur naturally and are used for the same purposes as antibiotics. The sulfa molecule is much larger and can cause severe reactions in some individuals. While many people are allergic to sulfa drugs, no similar reactions have ever been reported with MSM.

Glucosamine is a well-tolerated, natural treatment for osteoarthritis and its symptoms. There have been no reported adverse reactions. In rare instances, some gastric discomfort was reported but was easily relieved by taking the supplement with food. Diabetic patients wanting to try Glucosamine (an amino sugar) should consider potential effects on their blood sugar control. If you're allergic to shellfish, avoid taking Glucosamine, which is made from crab, lobster or shrimp shells.

Please consult your physician before using MSM and Glucosamine if you are pregnant, while nursing, for children under 2 years of age, or by persons on blood thinners such as Coumadin or Heparin. It is recommended that you inform your doctor when supplementing.
